The Africa – Europe Youth Core Group

We are a network of African and European civil society organizations, youth groups, and non-affiliated individuals.

Established in the autumn of 2022 by a dedicated and passionate group of young people from both continents, our aim is to empower a new generation of Africans and Europeans (including diasporas) to self-organize and foster a genuine partnership between Africa and Europe from the grassroots level, through people-to-people actions.
We propose and self-organize meaningful events in which we write recommendations and work to ensure their implementation with all relevant stakeholders, including institutional ones.

Additionally, we aim to harmonize, synergize, and coordinate existing activities in the framework of the AU - EU partnership, and assist in their organization by building bridges among the relevant actors.
While we are always open to collaborating with institutions and other political actors, but we remain fully independent in terms of our organizational structure, finances, and ideology.

Anyone can join or leave the community at any time, as there are no membership criteria or subscription fees. Active participation and community-oriented thinking are encouraged and appreciated. We hold at least one general meeting per month to strategize, discuss, and assess the progress of our work on various projects.

The Youth Core Group is structured as follows:
A central group consisting of more than 200 members and over 20 associations from both continents.
Working groups, each focused on a different activity.

Currently, we have three active working groups:

  • Task Force on Calls: A group of our organizations has applied for the AU – EU Youth Lab Cooperation Grant.
  • Support for the Organization of the Forum of African and European Youth in Senegal: This event will take place from June 19 to 21, 2025.
  • Support for the Black History Month Festival in Torino, Italy: This event occurs annually in February.
